Bashir, a Psychological and Social Counselor at the Technion Student Dean’s Office; and also conducts therapy sessions in boarding schools for at-risk children. In recent years, Bashir has written texts on shared living in Israel that were published in several newspapers. In the past, he worked at the Sacred Heart institute in Haifa, where he treated (individuals and groups) populations suffering from cerebral palsy and mental retardation. He also mentored students who studied music therapy at the University of Haifa and lead student career groups as part of the Kav Mashve organization. Bashir initiated several community projects, such as a partnership between an academic institution for music and a special needs school, for the integration of children with disabilities into concert halls in the community. He also initiated the Juzoor (Roots) project in the field of community activism, that sought to create cooperation between parents and children in one of Haifa’s neighborhoods – together with community leaders – with the aim of shaping local policy and adapting the neighborhood landscape to their unique needs. Bashir holds a B.A. in statistics from Haifa University and two Master’s Degrees: in music psychotherapy from Bar Ilan University and in political social work from Haifa University. Bashir holds also a professional certificate in group facilitation from Tel Aviv University. He lives in Haifa.
