Nurit Jacobs-Yinon, a filmmaker, director, producer, artist, curator and owner of Aluma Films. Nurit lectures about cinema, art, Judaism and gender – fields in which she is also socially active. Her films have been shown at numerous film festivals and screenings in Israel and abroad and her video-art instillations have been displayed in galleries and museums in Israel and the US. Nurit initiated and led the Inclusion and Exclusion project, which encompasses exhibitions, video-art installations, films, books, lectures and social endeavors to generate public discussion on issues such as conversion, illegitimacy under religious law (mamzerim), and women’s right to vote and be elected. In 2021, Nurit created a television series for Israeli Television (Kan 11 Chanelle) called Question-Answer, in which newly and previously Ultraorthodox Jews meet for joint conversations and learning, and curated two exhibitions: Body Text, on feminist art in the three monotheistic religions, and Tikkun Hatzot, on the struggle to eradicate sexual violence that was displayed in the Social Space TLV (previously the Pussycat Strip Club). Nurit is the co-founder of The Women in Film and Television in Israel Forum and one of the founders and leaders of Nachat Ruach, a halakhic partnership minyan in the town of Shoham. Nurit is a member of the Israeli Academy of Film and Television and a member of the editing board of the Deot journal published by Ne’emanei Torah Va’Avodah. Nurit is a graduate of The Ma’ale Film & Television school in Jerusalem; holds a B.Ed in education and a teachers certificate; earned an M.A. from the Haifa University in US history, and graduated with honors from the Ruderman Program for American Jewish Studies. Nurit lives in Shoham, is married and has four children.
