Sharon Brick-Deshen, the director of Kolech, an Orthodox Jewish feminist organization that works to advance the status of religious women, equality, and female leadership. In her previous position, she developed and managed a program to make military service more accessible to girls graduating from the national-religious school system, helping them navigate the process of enlisting and job placement in the army and supporting them throughout their services. In addition, for ten years she served as a member of the board of Ramban Synagogue under the leadership of Rabbi Benny Lau, where she also promoted women’s involvement in Orthodox synagogues. Sharon holds a B.A. in criminology and psychology and an M.A. in organizational consulting with distinction, both from Bar Ilan University. She has completed professional development courses on many subjects including preparation for board members at the Magid Institute, mentoring at New Start, and group facilitation at Gisha. Over the years, Sharon has been working on building connections, and she now sees an opportunity for broad, systematic work in order to strengthen the connection between the groups that make up the Israeli mosaic. She is married, has four daughters, and lives in Jerusalem.
