Shay (Shimon Yehuda) Weizman, a rabbi, educator, lecturer, and director of collaborations at Tzohar. In this role he heads collaborations with all sectors of society and promotes outreach Judaism. Previously he served as an advisor to ministers and deputy ministers at the Ministry of Religious Services and the Ministry of Defence, and was partner to significant governmental enterprises (the pre-army programs, reserve soldiers, the Rehabilitation Department for disabled veterans, and more). Shai also initiated and headed the street library project in Jerusalem’s San Simon Park in memory of Shulamit Kriegman. In his past Shai served as rabbi of the Lapidot pre-military program and manager of the religious-Zionist conversion court – Giyur Kahalacha. He published a halachic Q&A book (Minchat Shai), conducts marriage ceremonies, and lectures on halacha, philosophy, and current affairs, specifically the heritage and rulings of Sephardic rabbis. Shai holds BA in Education from Lifschitz College, and MA in Educational Consulting from Bar Ilan University in addition to being ordained as a Regional Rabbi by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. He is also a a graduate of the College of Public Policy’s Distinguished Scholars Program. Married to Gittit, father of five, and lives in Kibbutz Beit Rimon in the Galilee.
