Zehorit Sorek

Zehorit, the head of the LGBT Community Department of the Ramat Gan Municipality and lectures to groups about activism and her personal story. She was a candidate for the 19th and 21st Knesset on behalf of the Yesh Atid and Blue & White parties. Zehorit founded the LGBT caucus of Yesh Atid and serves as its chairperson. She also established the Pride Minyan in Tel Aviv and the Proud Religious Community and is one of the founders of Yachad synagogue. She is also an active member in other organizations such as Bat Kol, a religious lesbian organization, and was also a board member of Hoshen, the gay community advocacy and education organization for tolerance in the religious society. In 2012 she was honored with the Distinguished Members of the LGBT Community Award. Zehorit worked at the Association of Community Centers (IACC) as a program director for the establishment of LGBT communities in the periphery in Israel. She lives in Tel Aviv.
